With the NFL season officially underway, all eyes will be on the elite teams in the league that have a shot of contending for a Super Bowl title, but there will be some teams around the league that will almost certainly be turning heads all season long as they go from perennial bottom feeders to perennial playoff teams. It appears that one of the best start streaks in the NFL has officially come to an end as four-time NFL MVP quarterback Peyton Manning will sit out Week 1 of the NFL regular season against the division rival Houston Texans. Apparently, the neck surgery has taken much longer to recover from as one of the best quarterbacks in the league has no idea when he will be back under center for the Indianapolis Colts. Last season the New England Patriots made a drastic move around midseason that no one saw coming as Bill Belichick and company cut ties with arguably one of the greatest wide receivers in NFL history in Randy Moss by trading him to one of his former teams in the Minnesota Vikings. This move took everyone by surprise and was thought to be ill-advised considering the fact that Randy Moss was Tom Brady’s favorite target and their best downfield threat. Continue Reading…
It isn’t very common for teams around the NFL to make drastic roster moves before Week 1 and once the NFL preseason is finished, but that is exactly what the Jacksonville Jaguars have done as they are set to cut starting David Garrard before the beginning of the upcoming NFL regular season. This is an interesting move by the Jaguars as head coach Jack Del Rio made it clear that there was no quarterback controversy and David Garrard was his starting, but now he is about to cut his starter and go with Luke McCown under center with rookie Blaine Gabbert as his backup. New Orleans Saints @ Green Bay Packers Thurs. Sept. 8, 2011
The NFL regular season will officially get underway this Thursday night when the defending Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers play host to the Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints at Lambeau Field.
A lot of teams around the league made some drastic changes during the NFL offseason in order to contend with the best of the best this season, but the Packers and the Saints are two Super Bowl title contenders that were content the their current rosters. New Orleans did make one big change by trading running back Reggie Bush to the Miami Dolphins and drafting former Heisman trophy winner Mark Ingram out of Alabama, but for the most part this team is basically the same squad as last season. The Chris Johnson watch in Tennessee is officially over after the three-time Pro Bowl running back has signed a four-year contract extension with the Tennessee Titans worth $53 million dollars. Along with becoming the highest paid running back in the NFL after signing this four-year deal with the Titans, Chris Johnson will also become a very rich man regardless of whether or not things work out in Tennessee with the Titans giving him $30 million guaranteed. As arguably two of the best all-around teams in the NFL, the Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Jets squaring off in their final preseason game before the regular season could be a potential Super Bowl preview.
With the Eagles signing a ton of Pro Bowlers and recently re-signing Michael Vick to a six-year $100 million dollar contract, Philly will have a lot of pressure on them to be successful this season and possibly contend for a Super Bowl title or at least an appearance in the big game in February. New York Giants @ New England Patriots Thurs. Sept. 1, 2011 7:30 p.m. EST
The fourth and final preseason game for the New England Patriots will be a Super Bowl rematch of 2008 when Tom Brady and company had a perfect 18-0 record heading into their showdown with Eli Manning and the New York Giants. Needless to say, the Giants pulled off arguably the biggest upset in Super Bowl history as they were able to take down Bill Belichick’s squad, 17-14. Continue Reading…
Houston Texans @ Minnesota Vikings Thurs. Sept. 1, 2011 8 p.m. EST

Cleveland Browns @ Chicago Bears Thurs. Sept. 1, 2011 8 p.m. EST
The Cleveland Browns are the talk of the NFL right now as they have quickly transformed from a team with no hope for the future with a bunch of young prospects into a squad with playoff aspirations heading into the NFL regular season. There are still a lot of things that quarterback Colt McCoy and company need to do in order to compete with the best of the best in the AFC Conference or even within the AFC North division, but they seem to be on the right track with a new coaching staff that has seemingly turned the team around on the offensive side of the football.
