Cleveland Browns @ Chicago Bears Thurs. Sept. 1, 2011 8 p.m. EST
The Cleveland Browns are the talk of the NFL right now as they have quickly transformed from a team with no hope for the future with a bunch of young prospects into a squad with playoff aspirations heading into the NFL regular season. There are still a lot of things that quarterback Colt McCoy and company need to do in order to compete with the best of the best in the AFC Conference or even within the AFC North division, but they seem to be on the right track with a new coaching staff that has seemingly turned the team around on the offensive side of the football.
The one player that made a lot of noise in Cleveland last season was running back Peyton Hillis. Even though he wasn’t all that successful with the Denver Broncos earlier in his career, last year was a breakout year for the running back as he has become one of the best players at his position in the NFL.
Whether or not Hillis can repeat his performance of last season remains to be seen, but with McCoy coming into his own under center, the chances are that the Madden 12 cover athlete could get some much needed help this season.
On Thursday night, the Cleveland Browns will travel to the Windy City to take on the Chicago Bears. Even though the Bears are the defending NFC North division champions and were able to make it all the way to the NFC Championship game last season, they have struggled in the preseason with serious problems on their offensive line and on defense.
The Browns will look to expose the Bears problems in those areas and come out with a win. It is uncertain how much the Cleveland and Chicago starters will play in this game, but the Browns might showcase their first team a bit longer than the Bears to get them ready for the upcoming NFL regular season.
