Houston Texans @ Minnesota Vikings Thurs. Sept. 1, 2011 8 p.m. EST
Coming into the NFL regular season, the Houston Texans and the Minnesota Vikings will be looking to get back on track as they are two teams that could be competing for a playoff spot this season if they can get off to a good start.
Over the past couple of years, the Texans and the Vikings have been teams on the rise in the NFL with potent offenses and formidable defenses. This year things will be much different for the Vikings as they move on from the Brett Favre era and start veteran quarterback Donovan McNabb under center. The Texans on the other hand will be looking to improve from last season by competing with the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC South division and make it into the playoffs for the first time in franchise history.
On Thursday night, the up-and-coming Houston Texans will travel up north to Minnesota to take on Donovan McNabb’s Vikings. This game will most likely be dominated by second and third team players as both the Texans and the Vikings will try to rest their starters to get them ready for Week 1 of the NFL regular season.
The biggest concern for the Houston Texans as of right now is the health of Pro Bowl running back Arian Foster. With Foster recently tweaking his hamstring for the second time during the preseason, the Texans will most likely be sitting their star running back to give him some more time to get that injured hamstring back to 100%.
These two teams could very well be playoff bound at the end of the NFL regular season, but in the meantime they would like to get a win in the last game of the preseason and keep their players healthy in the process.
