It has been a long time coming, but after nine years of moving up the ranks in the NFL the Houston Texans have finally clinched their first playoff berth in franchise history. Even though this team has been very talented and promising over the years, this season was the year that the NFL’s most recent expansion team became a legitimate force to be reckoned and will try to make a deep run in the playoffs.
Despite being banged up all season long with injuries to big-name players like Mario Williams (out for season), Matt Schaub (out for season), Matt Leinart (out for season), Arian Foster (hamstring) and Andre Johnson (hamstring), the Houston Texans have kept moving forward with win after win after win. Now that the Texans are being led by rookie quarterback T.J. Yates, the team continues to win football games and has now won the AFC South division title with an impressive 10-3 record.
There is no telling at this point in time whether or not the Houston Texans will have similar success in the playoffs against the best of the best in the AFC Conference, but no matter what hurdles have been put in front of this up-and-coming football team, head coach Gary Kubiak has figured out a way for the Texans to come out on top.
With the division wrapped up and the playoff berth clinched, the Houston Texans will almost certainly rest their star players like running back Arian Foster, wide receiver Andre Johnson and maybe even T.J. Yates to prevent any other serious injuries that could hinder this team’s chances of competing in the playoffs. Over the last three games of the NFL regular season, the Houston Texans will face the Carolina Panthers, Indianapolis Colts and the Tennessee Titans.
