It seems that only the start of the upcoming NFL regular season will end the speculation of yet another comeback for three-time NFL MVP quarterback Brett Favre. The most recent speculation came from the Miami Dolphins as they were on the lookout for a veteran quarterback to come in and be the starter this season, but apparently the Dolphins either decided against it or Favre had no intentions to come out of retirement to play for Miami. Controversial NFL owner Al Davis has made yet another questionable move with a rookie quarterback as he has drafted Ohio State’s Terrell Pryor in the third round of the NFL supplemental draft. This might ultimately turn out to be a great move for the Oakland Raiders as they have been in desperate need of a solid starting quarterback, but it appears that the Raiders drafted Pryor with the intention of making him a wide receiver. It has been a short week for the Houston Texans as they are set to host the New Orleans Saints on Saturday night just four days after beating the New York Jets on Monday Night Football. This season will be another test to see if the Houston Texans are an up-and-coming team in the NFL as they will have the perfect opportunity to take advantage of their position in the AFC South division. San Diego Chargers at Dallas Cowboys Sun. Aug. 21, 2011 8 p.m. EST
As arguably two of the most talented teams in the NFL, the San Diego Chargers and the Dallas Cowboys will have Super Bowl aspirations coming into the NFL regular season. With two Pro Bowl caliber quarterbacks in Philip Rivers and Tony Romo, the Chargers and the Cowboys have the right leadership under center and this might be the season that both teams go the distance. The Philadelphia Eagles may have dominated the headlines of the NFL offseason after the NFL lockout was over in terms of making trades and signing Pro Bowl caliber free agents, but the New York Jets did pretty well for themselves by adding some key veteran players that might be able to help this team finally reach the Super Bowl. Arizona Cardinals at Green Bay Packers Fri. Aug. 19, 2011 8 p.m. EST
The defending Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers came into the first week of the NFL preseason with high hopes of getting back to their dominant ways on both sides of the football and seeing what their second team had to offer.
Unfortunately, the Green Bay Packers were blindsided by a much improved Cleveland Browns squad led by up-and-coming quarterback Colt McCoy. With McCoy putting on a show for his new coaching staff, the defending champs took a backseat to the new and improved Browns, but they will have a chance to get back on track in Week 2 of the NFL preseason on their home field at Lambeau against the Arizona Cardinals. The Ohio State Buckeyes are a college football program left in ruins after the resignation of head coach Jim Tressel and quarterback Terrell Pryor’s decision to try his luck in the NFL. Even though Pryor wasn’t able to get himself in the 2011 NFL draft, the promising young quarterback was doing everything within his power to in what is called the NFL supplemental draft. New England Patriots at Tampa Bay Buccaneers Thurs. Aug. 18, 2011 7:30 p.m. EST
The New England Patriots started off their NFL preseason with a bang as they absolutely dominated the Jacksonville Jaguars with an offensive showcase without superstar quarterback Tom Brady. As head coaches usually do in the preseason, Bill Belichick decided to sideline Tom Brady for the first preseason game and for good reason as his reserves exceeded expectations. Continue Reading…
Last season the Cincinnati Bengals had arguably the most talented receiving corps in the NFL with perennial Pro Bowl wide receivers Chad Ochocinco and Terrell Owens playing across from each other. Even though the Bengals seemed to have an offense that could quickly turn into one of the league’s best, Cincinnati failed to live up to expectations and ended up only winning four games all year long.
