Last week, the Jacksonville Jaguars hired David Caldwell to become the team’s new general manager. Caldwell’s hiring wouldn’t normally make a lot of news around the NFL with the Jaguars arguably the worst team in the league recording only two wins this season, but it was what Caldwell said in his introductory press conference that made headlines.
Ever since the season ended in disappointment once again for the New York Jets, the team let it be known that changes will be made with GM Mike Tannenbaum being fired and backup quarterback Tim Tebow likely to be released or traded before next season.
As a result of Tebow becoming available once again, the speculation and rumors started to run rampant in the NFL in a similar fashion as it did when the Denver Broncos signed future Hall of Famer Peyton Manning for the long-term.
Although Tebow wasn’t given his opportunity to show what he could do on the field for an extended part of time in New York, the popular backup is still a hot commodity in the NFL and a desired asset of teams looking to bounce back in 2013.
The one team that was thought to make a move to acquire Tebow was the Jaguars. Unfortunately, Caldwell let it be known that the team has no interest in Tebow and will stick with Blaine Gabbert.
As a result, Tebow is on the radar of teams looking for quarterback help with the Arizona Cardinals potentially an interested party. The Cardinals have little faith in Kevin Kolb moving forward and may be looking into acquiring Tebow via trade or if he’s ultimately released by the Jets.
Tebow was spotted in Arizona this week training at a local college. The rumors will continue to circulate if the Cardinals show official interest.

James,
How can you write…..”the popular back-up is still a hot commodity in the NFL…..”. If that is the case, why is there no team interested in his service? Even his hometown team, Jacksonville Jaguars, who need a QB, not want him. To be kind….that was just a stupid thing to write.
