The Arizona Cardinals were able to make the trade to acquire veteran quarterback Carson Palmer from the Oakland Raiders official on Tuesday. The team was able to come to terms on a restructured contract for Palmer that will pay Palmer $16 million over the next two years.

Along with Palmer having $10 million of his contract with the team guaranteed, the veteran will also have $4 million incentives from the team over the next two seasons. It’s basically a win-win situation for both sides with Palmer being paid regardless of how the situation pans out and the Cardinals able to part ways with the veteran after next season if things don’t work out.

Not only has Palmer arrived in an ideal situation in Arizona, he’s already got the full confidence of his new head coach Bruce Arians. The reigning NFL Coach of the Year has fully endorsed Palmer as the team’s new starting quarterback and is glad the trade went smoothly.

Even though the trade to send Palmer to the Raiders from the Cincinnati Bengals was considered lopsided and a failure in terms of Oakland ultimately getting the short end of the stick, the veteran’s new situation may end up completely different with superstar wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald downfield opposed to mediocre wideouts with the Raiders.

Only time will tell whether or not Palmer and the Cardinals will work out the way the team is anticipating after pulling the trigger on the deal Tuesday. It’s hard to argue that Palmer isn’t in a better situation with potentially the right pieces to the puzzle in order to become a playoff team in 2013.

Palmer isn’t the only new offensive players on the Cardinals roster with running back Rashard Mendenhall also signing on earlier in the NFL off-season making for a potentially dynamic offense moving forward.
