The first 11 weeks of the NFL regular season have come and gone and the defending Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers are still perfect with the best record in the NFL at 10-0. This doesn’t as a surprise to many NFL analysts or avid Packers fans around the country as there has been no question that Green Bay is the best team in the league right now, but the defending champs were tested in Week 11 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Last season the Tampa Bay Buccaneers burst onto the scene as arguably one of the talented and promising young teams in the league, but despite the success they experienced last year, the Bucs have struggled throughout the majority of this NFL regular season.
Quarterback Josh Freeman might be the future of the franchise and one of the best young QBs in the game today, but he hasn’t really lived up to expectations this season by leading the Bucs to a mediocre 4-5 record heading into Week 11. With the Packers being undefeated and arguably the best team in the league, the Bucs had their work cut out for them last Sunday.
Fortunately, the Bucs played much better than anticipated with the Josh Freeman and company outscoring the Packers in the second half 17 to 14. Despite the impressive second half in which Tampa Bay threatened the perfect season, the Bucs fell just short after superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers connected with up-and-coming wide receiver Jordy Nelson on a 40-yard touchdown pass.
With the Packers holding off the Bucs by a score of 35-26, the defending Super Bowl champions from Green Bay have improved their record to 10-0 and set up what could be the game of the year against the division rival Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving Day.
