Houston Texans @ Indianapolis Colts Thurs. Dec. 22, 2011 8:20 p.m. EST
With the AFC South division title wrapped up and the first trip to the playoffs in franchise history just weeks away, the Houston Texans have been rolling and finally become a legitimate force to be reckoned with in the AFC Conference. Despite a potentially deep run in the playoffs, the Texans must get through the last two games of the NFL regular season without suffering any injuries and hopefully two more wins added to their record.
Fortunately, the Houston Texans could have a relatively easy task ahead as they will face off against the division rival Indianapolis Colts on Thursday night. The Colts may be coming off their first win of the season against the Tennessee Titans (also a division rival), but there was a bit of luck in that victory with running back Donald Brown breaking for an 80-yard run late in the fourth quarter that helped guide this team to a win over the Titans.
In Week 16, the Colts will try to keep up their newfound winning ways by getting the best of the AFC South champion Texans. As for Houston, the Texans will try to bounce back from a surprising loss to Cam Newton and the up-and-coming Carolina Panthers (28-13). Rookie quarterback T.J. Yates has played well since taking over for Matt Leinart, but the young gunslinger did struggle last week and could continue to struggle against a rejuvenated Colts’ squad on Thursday night.
As of right now, the Houston Texans are favored to get the win on the road with a -7 point spread. This spread is fairly solid in my opinion as Houston should get back on track even if they rest their starters this week.
Take the Texans at -7.
