2010 MLB Opening Day

Summer is at our doorstep and when summer nears, it’s time to start pitching, catching, and batting. In addition, it means that there are new players that tend to make a marking this MLB season and for those players as well as all 26 Major League Baseball teams, it is opening day today.

Last night was the first game of the 2010 MLB season with the Red Sox and Yankees at the Fenway Park. Red Sox has officially hosted an opening day game for the 99th time this year; however, it is the first out of those 99 opening games that they opened at night rather than a game during the day. The Yankees has it going well for them at the beginning of the game, but the Red Sox ended up pulling in the victory with a final score of 9-7.

Although the Yankees and Red Sox played their opening game last night, it is still opening day today for many of the teams in the MLB. Below you will find a schedule of the teams and times they will play today from earliest to latest in Eastern Standard Time and away vs. home:

1:05 p.m. – Philadelphia Phillies vs. Washington Nationals

1:10 p.m. – Florida Marlins vs. New York Mets

1:10 p.m. – St. Louis Cardinals vs. Cincinnati Reds

1:35 p.m. – LA Dodgers vs. Pittsburgh Pirates

2:05 p.m. – Cleveland Indians vs. Chicago White Sox

2:05 p.m. – Toronto Blue Jays vs. Texas Rangers

2:10 p.m. – Colorado Rockies vs. Milwaukee Brewers

4:10 p.m. – Chicago Cubs vs. Atlanta Braves

4:10 p.m. – Detroit Tigers vs. Kansas Royals

5:10 p.m. – San Diego Padres vs. Arizona D-backs

7:05 p.m. – San Francisco Giants vs. Houston Astros

10:05 p.m. – Minnesota Twins vs. LA Angels

10:05 p.m. – Seattle Mariners vs. Oakland Athletics

For many of you, today is a holiday. Many individuals skip school or take off work just to be at the opening day game of their favorite team. Get your team hat, tickets in hand, and be on your way to the ballpark because summer is finally here and that means so is baseball season! Enjoy it even if it is from home.
