Over the past couple of years, the Denver Nuggets have been one of the best teams in the Western Conference with arguably one of the most dominant scorers in the league in Carmelo Anthony.
Even though last season they showed signs of promise and could have ended up being a serious force to be reckoned with in the playoffs, the Nuggets began to fall apart late in the season and ultimately were knocked out in the first round by the Utah Jazz.
One of the main reasons for the Denver Nuggets struggles late in the year last season was that their head coach George Karl had been diagnosed with cancer for the second time of his life and as a result had to miss the rest of the season.
Without their leader on the sidelines, the Nuggets could seem to get it together on the basketball floor, which lead to teammates pointing fingers at one another and ruining their team chemistry.
Now the Denver Nuggets are facing yet another devastating problem in what appears to be the departure of arguably their best players and leading scorer Carmelo Anthony. The Nuggets have offered Melo a three-year contract extension in the $65 million dollar range to avoid him leaving the team after next season via free agency, but apparently he wants to leave regardless of the lucrative offer made by the Nuggets and might have played his last game in a Denver Nuggets uniform.
Reportedly, Carmelo Anthony would like to be traded and has already made a list of three teams that he would like to go to in the New York Knicks, Houston Rockets and New Jersey Nets.
Obviously, the Denver Nuggets will want to make a deal that benefits them the most, but the consensus is that Melo will be headed to the Big Apple when it is all said and done.
