The Philadelphia Eagles have made more moves to improve their team on both sides of the football than any other team in the league so far. Even though the Eagles have already out done themselves by signing free agents Nnamdi Asomugha, Vince Young, Ronnie Brown and acquired Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie via trade, Andy Reid and company were done making additions as they have now signed free agent Pro Bowl wide receiver Steve Smith.
It just amazes me how much the Philadelphia Eagles has been dedicated to making their team better before the upcoming NFL regular season. The addition of Nnamdi Asomugha was enough in my opinion to make the Eagles into a legitimate Super Bowl title contender and arguably the best team in the NFC Conference on both sides of the football, but then Philly went and added Pro Bowler after Pro Bowler.
The latest move was arguably the most surprising for the Philadelphia Eagles as it seemed as though the team was content with their new squad. Apparently, that wasn’t the case as the Eagles signed Pro Bowl wide receiver Steve Smith formerly of the division rival New York Giants.
The reason that the Philadelphia Eagles may have gone out and signed Steve Smith is the increasing concern for the health of wide receiver Jeremy Maclin. With Maclin having an undisclosed illness, the Eagles may have tried to cover their losses by signing Smith.
Reportedly, the Philadelphia Eagles has signed Steve Smith to a one-year deal. This move should make the Eagles offense that much more dynamic heading into the upcoming NFL regular season. Smith also has some injury concerns that might hurt him this season, but as of right now this signing looks like a step in the right direction for this team.
