At this point in time, the Philadelphia Eagles have been the big winner during this crazy free agent frenzy in the NFL as they were able to land the most sought after free agent in cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha. Not only were they able to get their hands on arguably the best cornerback in the league, but they were also able to bring in cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, backup quarterback Vince Young and now running back Ronnie Brown.
Last season the Philadelphia Eagles were without a doubt one of the best all-around teams in the league with a legitimate shot of contending for a Super Bowl title. With quarterback Michael Vick coming back into his own and actually being a better player than he was before he went to prison, the Eagles have turned the corner and will be a perennial Super Bowl title contender for some time, but now with their recent additions they will be the favorite to win it all next season.
After signing Nnamdi Asomugha, the consensus was that the Philadelphia Eagles were done making moves and would start to concentrate on the upcoming NFL regular season, but that wasn’t the case as they went out and got some insurance at the running back position. LeSean McCoy is the starter and a potential Pro Bowl talent, but in a way to make this team that much better the Eagles went out and signed veteran running back Ronnie Brown to a one-year deal.
Over the last six seasons, Ronnie Brown was the number one running back for the Miami Dolphins, but after the Dolphins acquired Reggie Bush they let Brown test free agency and as a result he landed with the Eagles.
This move only makes the Philadelphia Eagles that much more dominant on offense heading into next season. The Eagles’ backfield will be one of the most dynamic in the NFL next season with the addition of Ronnie Brown alongside LeSean McCoy and Michael Vick.
