Are the Philadelphia Eagles falling apart after promising start to the season?

Coming into this NFL regular season, the Philadelphia Eagles had made more moves to improve their team on both sides of the football in an attempt to make a run at the Super Bowl and become one of the league’s elite teams. Not only did the Eagles acquire Pro Bowl talent like Nnamdi Asomugha, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Vince Young, Steve Smith and Ronnie Brown, but Philly was able to sign quarterback Michael Vick to a $100 million dollar contract extension.

With the Eagles being a completely revamped squad with a lot of promising talent, the consensus was that the Philly would be a serious force to be reckoned with this season and a legitimate Super Bowl title contender. Unfortunately, that has been the case in the first four weeks of the season as they have only won one game out of those four games and looked like a team on the verge of falling apart.

There is no question that the Philadelphia Eagles are extremely talented on both sides of the football and more than capable of turning things around this season before things get drastically out of hand, but some changes need to be made after the team’s third straight loss.

In Week 4, the Philadelphia Eagles traveled to the Bay Area to take on the San Francisco 49ers in what was thought to be a tune-up game in which Michael Vick and company would dominate. Even though Vick had an impressive performance with 491 total yards (416 passing, 75 rushing) and two passing touchdowns, the Eagles’ defense wasn’t able to hold off Alex Smith and company as the 49ers pulled off the unlikely comeback and put the nail in the coffin with a 12-yard rushing touchdown from running back Frank Gore, 24-23.

Now the Philadelphia Eagles are sporting a record of 1-3 and talks of change of circulating around Philly with head coach Andy Reid potentially on the hot seat.
