Before Week 10, the Oakland Raiders were a team on the up-and-up in the NFL with a potentially bright future, but still struggling with their new starting quarterback Carson Palmer. Even though Palmer’s first two games with the Raiders were rough and pretty disappointing considering he threw three interceptions in each game, head coach Hue Jackson stuck by his new quarterback as he knew it was a matter of time before the former Heisman trophy winner got back to form.
Heading into Week 10, Carson Palmer and the Oakland Raiders had a tough test ahead of them against the division rival San Diego Chargers. With the Chargers struggling over the past few weeks and failing to live up to expectations, the consensus was that this was the game in which San Diego would turn things around and reclaim the top spot in the AFC West division.
Unfortunately for Philip Rivers and company, the Oakland Raiders came to play on Thursday night and kept Norv Turner’s squad on their heels all night long. The Raiders got off to a quick start with 17 points in the first half to just three from the Chargers, but San Diego did bounce back with 14 points in the third quarter.
Despite the third quarter resurgence, the Raiders prevailed over the Chargers, 24-17. This win was huge for the Raiders because now Oakland sits atop the AFC West division standing and could win the division title if they can get the best of the Kansas City Chiefs, Denver Broncos and the Chargers in their second meetings.
Carson Palmer was near flawless against San Diego by throwing 299 yards and two touchdowns with one interception. This performance was by far the best of the season thus far for Palmer and has given a lot of hope to the Raiders’ faithful that this year the silver and black will finally get back into the playoffs for the first time since 2002.

“Carson Palmer was near flawless against San Diego by throwing 299 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions.”
He threw 1 interception and he had a forced fumble. I still agree whole completely with the article. Just wanted to be clear about where he is at. This game will be his true return I believe.
