Houston Texans @ Baltimore Ravens Sun. Oct. 16, 2011 4:05 p.m. EST
Last week the Houston Texans got their first taste of what it is like to play without All-Pro wide receiver Andre Johnson. With Johnson out for the next two weeks, the Texans try to do everything within their power to get a few wins without the superstar wideout, but quarterback Matt Schaub will almost certainly miss his go-to guy in the passing game this weekend the Texans go on the road to take on a very good Baltimore Ravens. Cleveland Browns @ Oakland Raiders Sun. Oct. 16, 2011 4:05 p.m. EST
This season the Oakland Raiders seem to be improving every single week as they continue to play well and beat playoff caliber teams like the Houston Texans and the New York Jets. With that being said and the fact that the Raiders will have rookie quarterback Terrell Pryor giving them insurance under center, Oakland could be on their way to a blowout this weekend as they play host to the Cleveland Browns. It would be hard to argue at this point in the in NFL regular season that the defending Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers aren’t the best all-around team in the league. After Week 5’s loss to the division rival New England Patriots, the New York Jets are in trouble as they have quickly gone from a legitimate Super Bowl title contender to a team that might be on the outside looking in on the playoff picture this season. Despite having one of the most talented defensive squads in the NFL, Rex Ryan just hasn’t been able to get the job done on offense this season and as a result made a move to try and correct some problems. No team was talked about more during the NFL off-season and the NFL lockout than the Philadelphia Eagles. Not only did the Eagles sign starting quarterback Michael Vick to a very lucrative $100 million dollar contract extension, but also Philly was able to bring in big-name Pro Bowlers via free agency and through trades to seriously upgrade this squad on both sides of the football. It is finally official, second-year quarterback and fan favorite Tim Tebow is the new starting quarterback for the Denver Broncos. Even though the Broncos are coming off a loss to the division rival San Diego Chargers and will most likely be unable to contend in the AFC West division this season as a result, new head coach John Fox has decided to swallow his pride and put in the young stud out of Florida. Green Bay Packers @ Atlanta Falcons Sun. Oct. 9, 2011 8:20 p.m. EST
There is no question at this point in time in the NFL regular season that the defending Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers is the best all-around team in the league. With quarterback Aaron Rodgers coming off a career performance against the lowly Denver Broncos in which he lit up John Fox’s defense for six touchdowns and almost 450 total yards, the Packers offense is firing on all cylinders and it couldn’t be happening at a better time as the defending champs will have their work cut out for them in Week 5 against the Atlanta Falcons. Every single season the AFC East division seems to come down to just two teams with the New England Patriots and the New York Jets battling it out for the division title. This season things have changed a bit with the Buffalo Bills becoming force to be reckoned with, but it would be safe to say that either the Patriots or the Jets will win the division title at season’s end. New Orleans Saints @ Carolina Panthers Sun. Oct. 9, 2011 1 p.m. EST
Outside of the defending Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers and the up-and-coming Detroit Lions, no team in the NFL has played better in the first four weeks of the NFL regular season than the New Orleans Saints. If it weren’t for the Packers defense stopping the Saints in the redzone with time expiring in Week 1, New Orleans would be undefeated and superstar quarterback Drew Brees would be the clear favorite for this season’s NFL MVP.
