Will the Indianapolis Colts pay Peyton Manning his upcoming $28 Million payday or is he heading for the trading block?

The future of the Indianapolis Colts continues to be shrouded in mystery with owner Jim Irsay making moves on seemingly a weekly basis and now franchise quarterback Peyton Manning saying that he has no idea whether or not he is in the team’s long-term plans moving forward. Needless to say, the Colts look like they are at the beginning of an extensive rebuilding process around rookie quarterback Andrew Luck (Stanford) who Indianapolis intends to acquire with the number one overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft.

This week four-time NFL MVP quarterback and one-time Super Bowl champion Peyton Manning said that things in Indianapolis don’t seem as comfortable as it once was. With all the firing and the new look to team is going for has people walking on eggshells in the Colts organization. That makes for an uncomfortable environment with a lot of uncertainty.

With that being said, the consensus seems to be that Peyton Manning will no longer be the starting quarterback of the Indianapolis Colts and there will be just a matter of time before the team parts ways with the face of the franchise. Now that Luck will be coming in and seems to be the future of the quarterback position in Indianapolis, Colts owner Jim Irsay could be ready to start over and the first step from here on out would be to cut Manning loose or trade him before the team is required to pay him the $28 million dollar bonus.

The one suitor that seems to be most interested in acquiring Peyton Manning if the perennial Pro Bowler is healthy and ready to go for next season is the New York Jets. There is no question that many teams around the league with quarterback problems would love to get their hands on Manning, but the Jets could turn out to be the best option.
