Green Bay Packers @ Atlanta Falcons Sun. Oct. 9, 2011 8:20 p.m. EST
There is no question at this point in time in the NFL regular season that the defending Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers is the best all-around team in the league. With quarterback Aaron Rodgers coming off a career performance against the lowly Denver Broncos in which he lit up John Fox’s defense for six touchdowns and almost 450 total yards, the Packers offense is firing on all cylinders and it couldn’t be happening at a better time as the defending champs will have their work cut out for them in Week 5 against the Atlanta Falcons.
Even though the Atlanta Falcons haven’t been playing up to their potential this season despite the upgrades on both sides of the football with the additions of rookie wide receiver Julio Jones and defensive end Ray Edwards, Matt Ryan and company are still a force to be reckoned and need just one big win over a team like the Green Bay Packers to get back on track.
In the playoffs last season, the Packers wiped the floor with the Falcons and exposed them for being an inexperienced team that needed to re-evaluate their game plan. This season the Falcons wanted to get off to a quick start and grab the early lead in the NFC South division, but their struggles have them sitting in third place in the division with a 2-2 record behind the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New Orleans Saints.
As of right now, the Green Bay Packers have been given the edge in this matchup with a -6 point spread. This is a solid spread in my opinion as I believe the Packers should dominate the Falcons and cruise to victory.
Take the Packers at -6.
