Was Denver Broncos Tim Tebow playing hurt in loss to Patriots?

The ironman distinction in the NFL is pretty coveted these days with every football fan loving the toughness of players being able to play through even the worse of injuries. The last real ironman in the NFL retired last season with future hall-of-famer Brett Favre finally sucoming to his injuries and having to call it a career after two decades in the league. Peyton Manning has also been called an ironman, but this season he has lost that distinction after missing the entire year with a slow recovery to neck surgery.

The next ironman could very well be Tim Tebow of the Denver Broncos. Even though the Broncos were crushed in the AFC Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs by the New England Patriots, Tim Tebow apparently was playing with quite a few injuries that an average player would be sent to the sidelines with.

There is no question that Tim Tebow has been the most-watched player in the NFL this season and the next coming of Tom Brady in terms of superstardom in this league, but people didn’t know just how tough this kid was until the injuries his sustained in the loss to the Patriots was released.

Reportedly, Tim Tebow suffered torn cartilage in one of his ribs that is attached to his sternum, bruised a lung and had fluid built up in his pleural cavity. Those injuries sound pretty nasty to me and something that would personally send me straight to the hospital, but Tebow’s toughness reigned supreme in this game against New England; too bad it ended in a devastating loss (45-10).

Regardless of the injuries he suffered in this playoff loss, the Broncos believe he will be back under center and ready for next season as he has plenty of time to heal up.

If he was so badly injured then he should have sidelined himself. There’s a difference between Staffords game-winning TD while injured and crippling your team because you refuse to step down. Failure on the part of the higher ups for not having anyone else viable and a failure on the coach and Tebow himself for being in the game.

  2. Tebow says:

I think Tebow came into the league with a reputation for being tough. People may question his mechanics, accuracy, but his toughness has never been in question.

Another excuse on why they got their asses handed to them?
