Houston Texans @ Baltimore Ravens Sun. Oct. 16, 2011 4:05 p.m. EST
Last week the Houston Texans got their first taste of what it is like to play without All-Pro wide receiver Andre Johnson. With Johnson out for the next two weeks, the Texans try to do everything within their power to get a few wins without the superstar wideout, but quarterback Matt Schaub will almost certainly miss his go-to guy in the passing game this weekend the Texans go on the road to take on a very good Baltimore Ravens.
Not only are the Ravens vastly improved on offense this season with franchise quarterback Joe Flacco and Pro Bowl running back Ray Rice firing on all cylinders, but the Baltimore defense is also a serious force to be reckoned with Ray Lewis and company potentially being the best defensive force in the NFL this year.
With that being said, the banged up Houston Texans will have their work cut out for them this weekend. As if being on the road wasn’t bad enough without one of their star players on offense, the Texans will also being missing arguably their best all-around player on defense in Mario Williams. With Williams going down with a knee injury in last week’s loss to the Oakland Raiders that will keep him out the rest of the season, the Ravens offense might have a field day with Joe Flacco having all kind of time to throw the football or get the running game going by handing off to Ray Rice.
Needless to say, without Williams and Johnson the Texans will struggle and should lose this one in convincing fashion. As of right now, the Baltimore Ravens are favored with a -8 point spread and that sounds just about right to me.
Take the Ravens at -8.
