This past Thursday the NFL took one step closer to ending the lockout as the vote to ratify the new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) was passed by owners and now the fate of the future of football is in the hands of the players. The Los Angeles Lakers are at the beginning of a new era of basketball in the City of Angels as the Zen Master Phil Jackson has finally called it quits. With Mike Brown now the new head coach for the storied NBA franchise, the Lakers could be a much different team next season as they will abandon the infamous triangle offense and start the new era with a more defensive approach to the game. There has been a lot of speculation as of late surrounding the New York Mets and possible trade scenarios they might be exploring before the MLB trade deadline. The one player that has gotten more attention and been rumored to be on the trading block is perennial All-Star shortstop Jose Reyes. The NFL lockout is quickly coming to an end and could be all said and done by the end of the week, but even though teams around the league are prepared to open camp by July 31, some teams won’t have big-names ready to go.
