The NFL lockout is quickly coming to an end and could be all said and done by the end of the week, but even though teams around the league are prepared to open camp by July 31, some teams won’t have big-names ready to go. The Indianapolis Colts are one of those teams as they won’t see four-time NFL MVP quarterback Peyton Manning joining them as he is still recovering from offseason surgery on his neck.
If any player in the NFL could miss some or all of training camp and be ready for the regular season it is Peyton Manning, but hopefully this setback won’t hurt the team moving forward. The one problem that every team around the league will have before next season is getting their rookie on the same page as the veterans and ready to play football.
Next season the Indianapolis Colts will almost certainly Super Bowl title contenders once again as they will have relatively the same team intact. One player that might be leaving Indianapolis is free agent running back Joseph Addai. With Addai possibly looking for a bigger role with another team in the NFL, the veteran running back might test the free agent waters.
As for Peyton Manning, the superstar quarterback still has yet to sign his purposed deal of $98 million over the next seven years. Obviously, with the NFL lockout the Colts and the one-time Super Bowl champion weren’t able to get a new deal done, but that will most likely change once the new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) goes into effect and the lockout is officially over.
With this new deal Peyton Manning could become the highest paid player in the NFL and no player in the league is more deserving than arguably the best quarterback in the game today.
