Game 5: Grizzlies @ Clippers Tues. April 30, 2025 10:30 p.m. ET
The first two games of the first round playoff series between the Memphis Grizzlies and Los Angeles Clippers went as anticipated with both games being extremely competitive and Vinny Del Negro’s squad coming out on top.
With a two-game lead heading into Game 3, the Clippers were in complete control of this series and appeared to be on the verge of winning the series in convincing fashion. Los Angeles seemed to be the favorite to advance, but once the series shifted to Memphis everything change as the Grizzlies woke up.
Reigning Defensive Player of the Year, Marc Gasol, and veteran forward Zach Randolph began to impose their will in Memphis and now have tied the series at two games apiece.
Heading back to the Staples Center in Los Angeles for Game 5, the Clippers will have an opportunity to regain control with a win on their home floor. Although Los Angeles appeared to be the better of the two teams in the first two games, that seems to have changed with the Clippers simply unable to contain Randolph and Gasol or contend with the lockdown defense of the Grizzlies.
Regardless of the four games that have already transpired, the series has now gone for a seven-game series to only three. The Clippers have the edge moving forward with two of the final three games being played at the Staples Center due to the team’s home-court advantage earned in the regular season.
As of right now, the Clippers have been favored to come out on top in Game 5 with a -5 point spread. Although the Grizzlies have been the better two games, Los Angeles will likely get the best of Gasol and company in Game 5 while covering the spread at home.
Prediction: Clippers -5
