The NFL off-season has not been kind to the New England Patriots and their two star tight ends. Perennial Pro Bowler Rob Gronkowski has undergone multiple surgeries and Aaron Hernandez is on the verge of potentially being arrested due to his role in a murder case according to Sports Illustrated.

“New details surfaced late Wednesday night further tying Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez to the investigation of a homicide of a Boston man. Hernandez’s involvement in the case is significant enough that a source with knowledge of the investigation said that Hernandez’s arrest is likely. It is not yet known what he would be charged with.”

The hole keeps getting deeper and deeper for Hernandez with the veteran tight end seemingly much closer to the homicide than once thought. It appears to be only a matter of time before Hernandez is arrested and possibly brought up on charges for his involvement in the homicide.

Not only is more evidence linking Hernandez to the incident coming to light, but it has become clear the NFL player has been doing everything within his power to distance himself from any wrongdoing. Hernandez reportedly destroyed his cell phone and the security system at his home while also having his residence professionally cleaned before police began their search on Monday.

Although there’s no telling how far this investigation will go or how deep Hernandez’s involvement may be, the actions taken by the veteran tight end over the past few days clearly show he’s hiding something sending up red flags to law enforcement to eventually take him in to custody.

No word from the Patriots on whether or not the tight end will be disciplined in anyway or if the team is seriously considering parting ways following a potential arrest.
