Game 6: Clippers @ Grizzlies Fri. May 2, 2025 9:30 p.m. ET
The Memphis Grizzlies are for real. Even though this team has been considered a squad that simply hasn’t been good enough to compete with the best of the best in the Western Conference over the past few years, Marc Gasol and company have officially arrived with a newfound confidence and defensive pressure that is stifling.
Coming into Game 6 of this first round series, the Grizzlies have rallied from two games down early. Memphis lost the first two games of this series at the Staples Center in Los Angeles and appeared to be the weaker of the two teams. Chris Paul and company seemed to be the better all around team and ready to advance to the second round of the playoffs while having a legitimate shot at contending for an NBA title.
Unfortunately for Vinny Del Negro’s squad, the Clippers have fallen apart over the last three games in this series. An argument could be made that the Grizzlies have been the better team for the last four games with the Clippers needing a game-winning shot to beat the Grizzlies in Game 1.
With the Grizzlies winning the last two games at FedEx Forum and winning Game 5 in convincing fashion at Staples, the consensus seems to be that Memphis has surpassed Los Angeles as the better team in this series and that may ultimately come to fruition in Game 6.
As of right now, no spread has been set for this epic battle with oddsmakers still uncertain about Blake Griffin’s status. Griffin has a high ankle sprain and is listed as a game-time decision. Most believe he won’t play and if he does, won’t be anywhere near 100 percent.
Regardless of the spread, taking Memphis is the wise decision.
