Clippers @ Grizzlies Thurs. April 25, 2025 9:30 p.m. ET
Last season, the Los Angeles Clippers and Memphis Grizzlies went head-to-head in a heat and physical battle during the NBA playoffs. As arguably the most entertaining series of the postseason last year, the Clippers and Grizzlies instantly became rivals during their epic physical battles which ended with Los Angeles coming out on top only to be crushed by the San Antonio Spurs in the next round.
In Game 2 of the series between these two teams in the rise in the Western Conference, the Grizzlies took the Clippers the distance at Staples Center and almost came out with the win. Chris Paul hit a game-winning shot on a drive with the buzzer sounding in the fourth quarter giving Los Angeles a second consecutive win resulting in a two-game lead in the series for the Clippers.
With the series heading to Memphis for Game 3 and 4, the Grizzlies have a chance to get back into it with Marc Gasol and Mike Conley leading the way. Gasol will come in after receiving the recognition of the league’s best defensive player while Conley will be looking to capitalize on arguably the best playoff performance of his career.
As of right now, the Grizzlies are actually favored for the first time in this series to come out on top in Game 3. Memphis has been dubbed the favorites with a -4 ½ point spread. Although the Clippers appear to be the better all-around squad heading into this matchup, Memphis will get the win in Game 3 in my opinion.
Defense has been the key for the Grizzlies all season long and in Game 2 Memphis started to impose their will on that end of the floor. They will only improve in Game 3 on their home floor.
Prediction: Grizzlies -4 1/2
