Cleveland Browns @ Philadelphia Eagles Thurs. Aug. 24, 2011 7:30 p.m. EST
During the NFL preseason so far, the Philadelphia Eagles and the Cleveland Browns have been perhaps the two teams in the league that people have talked about the most. With the Eagles signing multiple Pro Bowlers during the offseason, the pressure is on in Philly for Michael Vick and company to contend for a Super Bowl title.
The Browns on the other hand are a young team on the rise in the NFL with up-and-coming players leading the way like quarterback Colt McCoy and running back Peyton Hillis. The expectations aren’t very high for the Browns as of right now, but they have played much better than expected during the preseason and might be playoff bound this season.
Peyton Hillis will come into this NFL regular season with high hopes of having a repeat performance of last year when he broke out as one of the best running backs in the game, but it is Colt McCoy that has been turning heads during the preseason with much improved play under center.
With an entirely new coaching staff, the Cleveland Browns have been going for a different approach and so far it has worked like a charm against the defending Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers and the Detroit Lions. The Browns may have lost to the Lions, but their first team led by McCoy has played brilliantly and showed a lot of promise moving forward.
On Thursday night, the Cleveland Browns will head to Philadelphia to take on Andy Reid and company. Even though the preseason is considered to be pointless by most, this year the preseason has been great for the Browns in their preparation for the upcoming regular season.
Thursday game against the Eagles will be another good test for Colt McCoy and the Browns to see if they can compete against a lockdown defense.
