Michael Vick lives up to new contract with impressive performance against the St. Louis Rams

In Week 1 of the NFL regular season, a lot of big-name players around the league were playing their first game since signing lucrative contract extensions with their current teams. The one player that recently cashed in on a new contract extension that everyone was waiting to see in the regular season and whether or not he would be worth the money right out of the gate was superstar quarterback Michael Vick of the Philadelphia Eagles.

There is no question that when he is on his game that Michael Vick is the best quarterback in football with the ability to destroy opposing defenses with his feet and his arm, but with the risks he takes running the ball the risk of injury is much higher. With that being said, a lot of people believe that Vick won’t be able to play out his new contract or be worth the money because he might be sitting on the sidelines with an injury.

Despite all the media saying that the Eagles rolled the dice and paid Vick too much for too long, Philadelphia looked very good on Sunday by getting the best of Sam Bradford and the St. Louis Rams. Now the Rams are not the Green Bay Packers or the New Orleans Saints, but they are team on the rise in the NFL and were a good test for the revamped Eagles.

The Rams did get off to a quick start with a 74-yard run for touchdown by running back Steven Jackson, but that was one of just a few highlights for St. Louis as Philadelphia took over and dominated offensively.

Not only was the passing game working for Michael Vick with 187 yards and two touchdowns, but the running game was just as good with running back LeSean McCoy (122 yards) and Vick (98 yards) dominating with 220 rushing yards combined. Needless to say, the Rams just couldn’t keep up as the Eagles cruised to a 31-13 victory.
