Dallas Cowboys @ San Francisco 49ers Sun. Sept. 18, 2011 4:05 p.m. EST
A classic showdown between two of the most storied NFL franchises in the league will go down this weekend when the Dallas Cowboys travel to the Bay Area to take on the San Francisco 49ers. This matchup will be somewhat of a must-win situation for America’s Team after they seriously dropped the ball in Week 1 against the New York Jets by letting Mark Sanchez and company outscored them in the fourth quarter 17-0.
In Week 2, the Dallas Cowboys will definitely have an easier task ahead of them against the San Francisco 49ers. Last week the 49ers came out on top against the division rival Seattle Seahawks, but by no means turned any heads or had people talking. The 49ers do look improved with a new attitude now that head coach Jim Harbaugh is calling the shots, but I doubt they will be able to compete against the Cowboys this week.
The Dallas Cowboys may have shown the same kind of flaws last week against the New York Jets that caused America’s Team to have such a disappointing season last year, but they do look like they have turned the corner if they can limit the mistakes and turnovers. Tony Romo will have a lot of pressure on him going into this game as everyone in Dallas wants him gone after his performance in the fourth quarter last week, but I believe he will bounce back with a vengeance in Week 2 and quiet his critics for at least one week.
As of right now, the Dallas Cowboys are favored to come out on top in this matchup with a -3 point spread. This spread will be close to a guarantee in my opinion as the Cowboys will be looking to make a statement.
Take the Cowboys at -3.
