The NFC East division is amongst the most competitive in the NFL every single season. The New York Giants have won the Super Bowl two out of the last five years and appear to be on their way to another division title and legitimate shot at repeating as Super Bowl champions.
As for the rest of the competition within the division, things drop off considerably from the Giants on down. The Dallas Cowboys are without a doubt one of the most promising teams in the NFL and absolutely stacked with talent on both sides of the football, but just can’t seem to get it done with owner Jerry Jones and head coach Jason Garrett calling the shots.
Although Tony Romo shows signs of brilliant at times and shades of Brett Favre, the veteran quarterback is get the job done either. Romo and company lost a big game against the Washington Redskins on Thanksgiving Day and they never recover to contend for a playoff spot in the NFC.
As if the Cowboys struggles or bad enough, the Philadelphia Eagles are even worse with perhaps an even more talented football team. Head coach Andy Reid is on the hot seat for the rest of the season and may have already sealed his fate with the consensus being that he will be fired at season’s end.
Reid has been unable to turn this team around despite all of talent and promise that the Eagles showed after naming Michael Vick starting quarterback. As a result, Philadelphia seats headed towards a rebuilding year and likely start cleaning house with the firing of Reid.
As of right now, the Cowboys are favored to come out on top this one with a point spread of -10. This bread is a bit too large for a team that has underachieved this season.
