#1 Memphis Grizzlies (9-2)
With all the off-season moves made by the Los Angeles Lakers and talk of the San Antonio Spurs remaining one of the best in the West along with the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Memphis Grizzlies have flown under the radar this season and continue to dominate the competition within the conference.
The Grizzlies are firing on all cylinders right now with a combination of players that continues to get the job done night in and night out. At this point in time, Memphis is a legit contender out West.
#2 San Antonio Spurs (11-3)
The Spurs may still be an older basketball team with an old school head coach calling the shots in Greg Popovich, but the record tells the tale of a winning squad with sight sets on repeating as the top team in the West.
#3 Miami Heat (10-3)
The defending NBA champions have had their fair share of struggles in the first month of the NBA regular season, but the Heat are slowing starting to come together once again.
One major benefit coming into Dec. will be the lack of road games with only two leading up to the NBA Finals rematch with the Thunder on Christmas Day.
#4 Oklahoma City Thunder (10-4)
As per usual, Kevin Durant is a legitimate NBA MVP contender once again with arguably as he works on his best season in the league. The Spurs and Grizzlies may be the top dogs in the West as of right now, but Oklahoma is slowing creeping up the ranks and may be at the top of this list before long.
The Thunder will be anxiously awaiting the showdown with James Harden’s Houston Rockets this week.
#5 Los Angeles Clippers (8-5)
The Clippers have been slipping lately and as a result slipped two spots in the power rankings, but with the best bench in the game and Chris Paul making a case for NBA MVP once again, this team won’t be down for long.
