Chargers @ Broncos Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012 4:25 p.m. ET
Once the first few games of the 2012 NFL season was in the books for the Denver Broncos, it was uncertain whether or not four-time NFL MVP Peyton Manning was back to form as an elite NFL quarterback or might finally be past his prime.
There was no telling what the immediate future held for the one-time Super Bowl champion, but the Broncos were in contention with hope for another playoff berth on the horizon.
Right out of the gate, the Broncos had lost three of the first five games with John Elway and company getting nervous about the future of the team in the hands of Manning. Fortunately, things quickly changed after Week 5’s loss to the New England Patriots (31-21) with Manning leading his new squad in the Mile High City to four straight wins.
Needless to say, after the four-game win streak, the Broncos have been dubbed a legitimate playoff contender and may even have a shot at the Super Bowl if they can compete with the likes of the Houston Texans and Baltimore Ravens in the playoffs.
In Week 11, the Broncos will attempt to keep the hot streak alive going head-to-head with the division rival San Diego Chargers for a second and final time during the regular season. The last meeting between these two was epic with Manning pulling off a patented come-from-behind victory after getting destroyed in the first half by the Chargers.
Heading into this matchup, San Diego is in panic mode with a 4-5 record thus far and win desperately needed against the Broncos to keep playoff hopes alive.
As of right now, the Broncos are heavy favorites to get the win at home with a -8 point spread. A large spread, but betting on Manning is a safe way to go against the lowly Chargers.
Take the Broncos at -8.
