#1 Houston Texans (5-0)
After a close call against the New York Jets on Monday night, the Houston Texans have been able to stay undefeated and atop the NFL’s power rankings for a third straight week.
Perhaps the true test will come in Week 6 with the flawless Texans hosting the Green Bay Packers. With the Packers desperate to reclaim their form, Matt Schaub might have another tough test in order to maintain this incredible start to the season.
#2 Atlanta Falcons (5-0)
As the only other undefeated team in the league, the Falcons continue to live up to expectations and dominate the competition with five straight wins to start the year.
In Week 6, it will likely be more of the same for Matt Ryan’s squad as they will take on the lowly Oakland Raiders. If Atlanta can pull out the win over Oakland and Houston falls to Green Bay, the Falcons will almost certainly jump to the top spot in these power rankings.
#3 San Francisco 49ers (4-1)
As if the dominant win over the Jets wasn’t impressive enough, the 49ers followed up with more than 600 total yards against the Buffalo Bills in Week 5 in order to improve their record to 4-1.
It is looking more and more likely that a showdown between San Francisco and Atlanta will determine the winner in the NFC Conference this season.
#4 Baltimore Ravens (4-1)
Although Baltimore isn’t blowing anyone away this season, the Ravens continue to win football games and are currently considered the second-best team in the AFC Conference behind the Texans and ahead of the New England Patriots.
#5 New England Patriots (3-2)
After an impressive win over the Bills in Week 4, Tom Brady and company kept moving the chains and lighting up the scoreboard against the Denver Broncos to get over .500 and back into the top five.
