Now that the Brett Favre saga is officially over in Minnesota, the Vikings must begin a new era of football at the quarterback position and may have found the right man to bring to replace the three-time NFL MVP in Donovan McNabb. Even though the franchise is will be grooming rookie quarterback Christian Ponder to be the future face of the Vikings, Minnesota would love to get their hands on a veteran like McNabb to teach the rookie the ropes and get him ready to eventually take over under center.
The Minnesota Vikings aren’t the only team that has been interested in trading for the six-time Pro Bowl quarterback, but they now seem like the one team most determined to get a deal done. The reason for their determination right now is because Brett Favre will not be coming back and backup quarterback Tarvaris Jackson just signed with the Seattle Seahawks. With only Joe Webb and Christian Ponder left under center, the Minnesota Vikings would be headed into a disastrous season that could almost certainly end with them being one of the worst teams in the league and big-name players like superstar running back Adrian Peterson considering leaving.
Hopefully, for the sake of the Minnesota Vikings franchise, they can get a deal done and bring in Donovan McNabb from the Washington Redskins. If they can, the Vikings could become a threat in the NFC Conference once again and just might be able to give defending Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers and defending NFC North division champion Chicago Bears a run for their money.
It is unclear at this point in time what the Washington Redskins would get in return for Donovan McNabb, but it seems like a foregone conclusion that the veteran quarterback will be headed elsewhere before next season via trade.
