The Donovan McNabb saga in the nation’s capital continues as the future of the six-time Pro Bowler with the Washington Redskins is very much up in the air right now. With head coach Mike Shanahan making it be known that he is basically done with Donovan McNabb as his starter under center in Washington, the Redskins have been actively looking for other options at the quarterback position and made a lot of inquiries in terms of possible trades.
Now that the Washington Redskins are seemingly done with Donovan McNabb, the rumors have started to circulate about the veteran quarterback heading elsewhere. The Redskins look like they will most likely just release McNabb which will pave the way for the veteran QB to sign where ever he wants to and one option might be with the Tennessee Titans.
With Kerry Collins calling it quits and Vince Young most likely getting the same treatment as Donovan McNabb in Tennessee by most likely getting released, the Titans might be on the lookout for a veteran quarterback like Donovan McNabb to mentor rookie QB Jake Locker (Washington) next season.
There is no question at this point in time that Jake Locker is the future face of the franchise for the Tennessee Titans and rightfully so, but the Titans might not be ready to put him under center in his first season in the NFL, especially after an NFL lockout that might limit his time to get some experience before the first snap of the upcoming NFL regular season.
With that being said, the Tennessee Titans might look to sign Donovan McNabb to a one or two-year contract if he is released by the Washington Redskins before the beginning of next season. If this does happen, McNabb might be able to rejuvenate his career in Tennessee and help Locker become an NFL ready quarterback.
