The NBA trade deadline might be less than 48 hours away, but there appears to be more movement going on in the NFL. Even though everyone is waiting to see where Peyton Manning will land in the next week or so, the rest of the league is loading up and making moves. The most recent considerable move made was retired wide receiver Randy Moss signing with the San Francisco 49ers with a one-year deal.
That move by the defending NFC West division champs was a surprising and potentially brilliant move, but the Chicago Bears bested the up-and-comers just one day later by acquiring Pro Bowl wide receiver Brandon Marshall from the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins have reportedly received two 3rd round picks over the next two years for the Pro Bowl wideout. This move by Miami might mean that Manning is off the table for the Dolphins.
In my opinion, this is a game-changing move for the Chicago Bears. Ever since the Bears acquired Pro Bowl caliber quarterback Jay Cutler from the Denver Broncos via trade a few years ago, Chicago has been desperately looking for a primetime wideout to come in and turnaround this offense. The offense of the Bears has done better than expected with running back Matt Forte being a dual threat, but the addition of Brandon Marshall will really open things up; especially considering that this is a reunion with Culter.
Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall were a dynamic duo in the Mile High City and will look to get back on track as one of the best quarterback/wide receiver combinations in the Windy City. Things will really start to look up for the Bears with a formidable offense next season.
