So, it appears that yet another very prestigious receiver is making his way to AFC East. The Denver Broncos have decided to make a trade with the Miami Dolphins and the lucky receiver in the trade is Brandon Marshall. With this trade agreement, the Dolphins will have to give up two of their second round picks in the NFL draft next week. These two second round picks include one for this year and one for the 2011 NFL season.
This trade came as a wakeup call as the Miami Dolphins have been very quiet up to this point. The Dolphins’ offense has now drastically changed with Brandon Marshall arriving in Florida sometime this week for his physical – possibly as early as today. After his physical, he will then be taken to sign his contract with the Miami Dolphins. This contract agreement will be for more than one year with some reports saying the agreement will be for four years. ESPN says that the contract will be for four years with a guaranteed $24 million and worth $47.5 million. This, of course, is in addition to the last year of his contract with the Broncos, which will earn him $2.5 million.
Brandon Marshall is known as an aggressive player as he has had run-ins with not only the law (suspended in 2008 due to legal trouble) but also Josh McDaniels, the Broncos Coach. He may be aggressive, but is very productive when out on the football field. He has participated in the Pro Bowls for the last two years. He also successfully caught in his three consecutive seasons of playing more than 100 passes with more than 1,000 yards.
