The Chicago Bears came just one game shy of making it back to the Super Bowl last season as they were unable to get past the arch rival Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship game. Despite not being able to get the best of the eventual Super Bowl champion Packers, the Bears were a very good football team last season and could be a perennial Super Bowl title contender in the years to come.
Even though the Chicago Bears are on the rise in the NFL and seem to have quarterback Jay Cutler confident under center after an impressive year last season, the wide receiver position is in desperate need of an upgrade. With that being said and such a talented group of free agent wideouts when the NFL lockout is over, the Chicago Bears will be looking to land one or maybe two free agent wide receivers to give Jay Cutler some targets downfield.
The one player that might be on the top of the list for the Chicago Bears in free agency is veteran wide receiver Plaxico Burress. Even though the veteran wideout has been out of the game for about two years now, Burress has gotten a lot of attention around the league since being released from prison recently.
With quarterback Michael Vick having so much success as a starter under center in Philadelphia after being rehabilitated in prison, Plaxico Burress is thought to be the next in line to prove that some time in prison is just what the doctored ordered for the troubled players around the NFL. If the Bears do land Burress in free agency, the boys from the Windy City will be favored to go far yet again and might be able to challenge the defending Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers in the NFC North division.
