Blue Devils vs. Spartans Fri. March 29, 2025 9:45 p.m. ET
One of the most anticipated matchups of the NCAA Tournament in the Sweet 16 will take place on Friday night with the second seeded Duke Blue Devils taking on the 3rd seed Michigan State Spartans.
This showdown between two college powerhouses will be an epic matchup between two of the best head coaches in the game today. Mike Krzyzewski is making another run at a NCAA title with the Blue Devils while Tom Izzo attempts to lead the Spartans to the promise land once again with another legitimate shot at a title.
As by far the most challenging game of the season for Duke, the Blue Devils will be tested right out of the gate against Izzo’s Spartans making for a game that will rival the championship game. It could be hard that the winner of this game may very well win it all or at least reach the title game.
This will be a classic matchup between a potent offense and a lockdown defense. Duke’s offense will be pivotal to Krzyzewski’s squad coming out on top while Michigan State’s defense will be the key to Izzo’s team advancing to the Elite Eight.
The Blue Devils’ hot shooting from beyond the arch (40.3 percent on the season) and the Spartans’ defense on the perimeter (hold opponents to 29.7 percent three-point shooting) will likely be the difference in the game, but it terms of the history the scales may be tilted with Krzyzewski’s experience leading teams to victory in the past.
As of right now, Duke is favored to come on top in this Sweet 16 matchup with Michigan State with a -2 point spread. Although this game will likely come down to the wire, taking the Blue Devils to advantage while covering is the smart move.
