Game 5: Warriors @ Nuggets Tues. April 30, 2025 8 p.m. ET
After clinching home-court advantage and the third overall seed in the Western Conference, the Denver Nuggets were considered to be a serious threat to the best of the best in the conference during the NBA playoffs.
Ty Lawson and company were able to impose their will on their home floor of the Pepsi Center this season only losing three games at home all season long. With the Nuggets’ dominance at home and the team seemingly starting to hit their stride under veteran head coach George Karl, Denver was favored to come out on top in their first round series with the Golden State Warriors, but things haven’t gone as planned.
Coming into Game 5 against the Warriors in Denver, Golden State has taken a commanding three games to one lead. The Nuggets face elimination for the first and possibly the last time in the postseason with Golden State ready to advance with one more win.
Although the Nuggets appeared to be the better of the two games in this series, Karl’s squad has struggled in the last three games resulting in three straight losses and a lot of doubt about whether or not this team can bounce back at home.
Rising star Stephen Curry has proven to be the difference in this series with the All-Star snub out to prove he’s one of the best players in the NBA. Curry hot shooting and lethal combination of playing making and scoring has been too much for the Nuggets to handle.
Ironically enough, once All-Star forward David Lee went down in Game 1, the team was thought to have taken a devastating blow, but it appears to have done the opposite.
As of right now, the Warriors are considered underdogs to come out on top against the Nuggets at the Pepsi Center on Tuesday. Even though the Warriors may ultimately win the series, I believe they won’t get the win on Tuesday, but will make it closer than anticipated.
Prediction: Warriors +8
