Game 2: Warriors @ Spurs Weds. May 8, 2025 9:30 p.m. ET
The San Antonio Spurs were able to pull off the sweep of the shorthanded Los Angeles Lakers in four games in the first round of the NBA playoffs, but have already faced a much tougher challenge in the second round of the postseason in the form of the up-and-coming Golden State Warriors.
Stephen Curry and company were able to pull off arguably the biggest upset of the playoffs thus far getting the best of the third seeded Denver Nuggets in six games. No one anticipated the Warriors being able to take down the Nuggets, especially at home, but Golden State was by far the better team in the series despite the inexperience.
In Game 1 of their second round series with the Spurs, the Warriors controlled the contest all night long until the Spurs battled back in the fourth quarter to ultimately force overtime. San Antonio kept their foot on the gas pedal late in the game and throughout the overtime period.
Although Curry was virtually unstoppable throughout the game finishes with a career playoff-high 44 points and 11 assists, Golden State was unable to hold off the veteran savvy San Antonio squad. Manu Ginobili put the nail in the coffin with a game-winning three-pointer in the second overtime period to take the series lead, 1-0.
In Game 2, the Warriors will be looking to bounce back after proving they’re more than capable of competing with the Spurs in this series. Curry will be the focal point of the offense once again for Golden State while San Antonio tries to figure out a way to contain him.
As of right now, San Antonio is favored to come out on top with a -7 ½ point spread. The Spurs are capable of covering this spread, but Golden State will make this close if not even the series at one game apiece.
Prediction: Warriors +7 ½
