The Los Angeles Lakers are at the beginning of a new era of basketball in the City of Angels as the Zen Master Phil Jackson has finally called it quits. With Mike Brown now the new head coach for the storied NBA franchise, the Lakers could be a much different team next season as they will abandon the infamous triangle offense and start the new era with a more defensive approach to the game.
Even though things will look much different once the NBA lockout ends and a new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) goes into effect, the star players in the league aren’t waiting around for the owners to budge as a lot of big-name All-Stars could be headed overseas. The first player to make a move and sign with a team overseas is perennial All-Star point guard Deron Williams.
With Deron Williams being the first of potentially many star players playing across the pond, the rumors have flying around the NBA about who will be next to sign with an international squad. Besiktas of Turkey seems to be the one team overseas making more moves than any other in terms of bringing in NBA players, but they might be the big winner if they can get their hands on five-time NBA champion Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers.
The speculation surrounding Kobe Bryant heading overseas to play in Turkey with Besiktas has been pretty unrealistic at this point as he has been banged up over the past few seasons and could use the rest. Despite the fact that Kobe could use the downtime, the Black Mamba seems serious about playing for Besiktas and could be the next big-name NBA superstar to sign a lucrative deal that could earn him up to $1 million dollars per month.
