New York Jets @ Oakland Raiders Sun. Sept. 25, 2011 4:05 p.m. EST
The Oakland Raiders made a statement last season by going undefeated in the AFC West division and having their most successful season in almost a decade. With running back Darren McFadden becoming one of the best players at his position in the NFL and Jason Campbell seemingly securing his job as the starting quarterback after being traded by the Washington Redskins, the Oakland Raiders have become a force to be reckoned with once again.
Even though they are coming off one of their best seasons in a long time, the Raiders have had their fair share of challenges in the first few weeks of the season against the division rival Denver Broncos and the up-and-coming Buffalo Bills. The Raiders were able to get the best of the Broncos in Week 1, but fell just short of the Bills in Week 2 against a brilliant comeback led by quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick.
Despite the loss to the Bills last week, the Raiders have looked pretty good to start the season, but they will face their toughest test in Week 3 against the Super Bowl title contending New York Jets. Even though the Jets are a legitimate title contender once again this season, they have had some tough challenges in the first two weeks, especially against the Dallas Cowboys in their season opener.
Coming into this Week 3 showdown, the New York Jets are by far the better all-around football team, but the Oakland Raiders might be able to give them a run for their money in the Bay Area this Sunday.
As of right now, the New York Jets are favored to get the best of the Oakland Raiders in Week 3 with a -4 point spread.
Take the Jets at -4.
