NFC Wildcard: New Orleans Saints @ Seattle Seahawks Sat. Jan. 8th 4:30pm EST
The NFL regular season has officially come to an end and Wildcard weekend is upon us as eight teams battle it out for a chance to head to the next round and keep their Super Bowl hopes alive.
Perhaps the one game during Wildcard weekend that will almost certainly be a blowout will be when the defending Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints head to Seattle to take on the lowly Seahawks.
Even though Qwest Field is considered to be one of the toughest places to play in the NFL these days, the New Orleans Saints are on a tear right now and will be extremely tough to beat as they are playing as good as any team in the league right now. There are some great NFL football betting matchups this weekend, and having Matt Hasselback starting might prove interesting with such a large spread.
Not only should have the Seattle Seahawks missed the playoffs altogether as they finished the season with a losing record of 7-9 and were still able to win the NFC West division title, but they will be in for a serious wakeup call this weekend as they will be defending their home field against the reigning Super Bowl champs who have no intentions of losing to the worst team in the playoffs.
As of right now, the New Orleans Saints are huge favorites to come out on top in this one with a -11 point spread. Even though I believe the Seattle Seahawks will be very motivated coming into this matchup and will have convinced themselves that they can beat the defending champs, I really can’t see any way the Pete Carroll’s squad makes a game of this as the New Orleans Saints will not be denied.
Taking the Saints to cover the -11 point spread in this matchup is a bit risky, but might be the best bet of Wildcard weekend.
