Green Bay Packers @ Chicago Bears Sun. Sept. 25, 2011 4:15 p.m. EST
The battle for the NFC North division title begins this Sunday as the defending Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers travel to the Windy City to take on the Chicago Bears. With the Bears getting the best of the Packers in the regular season last season, Chicago has shown that they are a legitimate contender for their second straight division title, but they did lose in convincing fashion to the arch rival Packers in the NFC Championship game which left the Bears bruised and battered. The Philadelphia Eagles came into this NFL regular season with high hopes of contending for a Super Bowl title with their revamped squad led by superstar quarterback Michael Vick. In an attempt to secure the future of the franchise under center, the Eagles made a bold move the off-season by signing Michael Vick to a contract extension worth $100 million dollars over the next six years. The Dallas Cowboys had a tremendous amount of pressure on them to get back on track in Week 2 against the rival San Francisco 49ers after dropping the ball against the New York Jets in their season opener. With Pro Bowl quarterback Tony Romo becoming public enemy #1 in Dallas after his collapse in the fourth quarter against the Jets, the Cowboys were hoping to get a big game out of him in Week 2 and that they did, but it may have come at a great cost to the team. Last week the Carolina Panthers saw their rookie quarterback Cam Newton exceed expectations as their starter under center after the number one overall pick in the 2011 NFL draft threw for 422 yards and scored three touchdowns (two passing, one rushing). This performance was absolutely amazing as most people believed that Cam Newton would seriously struggle on the NFL level and might be headed to the bench in favor of Jimmy Clausen as a result. The Michael Vick saga continues in Philadelphia with great success thus far and now the superstar quarterback will return to the Georgia Dome where it all began in Week 2 as the starting quarterback of the Philadelphia Eagles to take on his former team in the Atlanta Falcons. Continue Reading…
Chicago Bears @ New Orleans Saints Sun. Sept. 18, 2011 1 p.m. EST
Last week the Chicago Bears made their season debut against the Atlanta Falcons and were considered to be underdogs against one of the best teams in the league. Despite the Falcons being favored and arguably the better all-around team in many people’s eyes, Brian Urlacher and company dominated the defending NFC South division champs and cruised to victory. Heading into training camp and preseason, the Denver Broncos and new head coach John Fox were right smack dab in the middle of a heated quarterback controversy. With arguably three of the best quarterbacks in the league in terms of being a talented trio, the Broncos have had the daunting task of trying to pick a starter between three quarterbacks that could start for many teams around the league. Coming into the NFL regular season opener against the Arizona Cardinals, all eyes were on rookie quarterback Cam Newton as everyone wanted to see whether or not the former Heisman trophy winner and BCS champion could transcend his game on the NFL level. Not many people, including myself, expected much out of this kid in his NFL debut against an improved Cardinals squad, but he definitely turned some heads on Sunday by putting up some record numbers that will probably stand the test of time. The battle for the AFC North division title will officially get underway this Sunday when the defending AFC Conference champion Pittsburgh Steelers take on their arch division rivals in the Baltimore Ravens. This will be the first of two meeting on the season for these two bitter rivals and it could turn out to be an all-out war with both teams knowing what is at stake. Continue Reading…

It is pretty much a no-brainer to dub the defending Super Bowl champions the best team in the NFL before Week 1 and that has happened here with the Green Bay Packers leading the way heading into their showdown against the New Orleans Saints on Thursday night.
With the defending champs back healthy and ready to dominate the NFC Conference, the Packers are well deserving of the top spot with the best offense and defense in the NFL. Continue Reading…
