The battle for the AFC North division title will officially get underway this Sunday when the defending AFC Conference champion Pittsburgh Steelers take on their arch division rivals in the Baltimore Ravens. This will be the first of two meeting on the season for these two bitter rivals and it could turn out to be an all-out war with both teams knowing what is at stake.
The Pittsburgh Steelers will no doubt come into this matchup with a lot of confidence considering the fact that they dominated the Baltimore Ravens last season and were able to have a solid preseason. Despite the fact that the Steelers are still one of the teams to beat in the AFC Conference coming into this NFL regular season, the Ravens will be out to prove something this time around as they have made some key changes and might have surpassed their bitter rivals in a few areas on the gridiron.
This showdown between these AFC Conference heavyweights comes down to how they play on the defensive side of the football with both teams being elite in that category in the NFL. The Steelers have been arguably the better defense over the years with star players like Troy Polamalu and James Harrison leading the way, but the Ravens do have the savvy veterans like Ray Lewis and Ed Reed that know the sand is quickly falling out of the hour glass with only a season or two left in their prime.
As of right now, the Baltimore Ravens are have been given the edge in this AFC North showdown with a -1.5 point spread that seems to change with every passing hour. The Pittsburgh Steelers will put up a fight and make it another classic rivalry battle, but in the end I see the Baltimore Ravens coming out on top.
