Last season the New England Patriots made a drastic move around midseason that no one saw coming as Bill Belichick and company cut ties with arguably one of the greatest wide receivers in NFL history in Randy Moss by trading him to one of his former teams in the Minnesota Vikings. This move took everyone by surprise and was thought to be ill-advised considering the fact that Randy Moss was Tom Brady’s favorite target and their best downfield threat. Continue Reading…
It isn’t very common for teams around the NFL to make drastic roster moves before Week 1 and once the NFL preseason is finished, but that is exactly what the Jacksonville Jaguars have done as they are set to cut starting David Garrard before the beginning of the upcoming NFL regular season. This is an interesting move by the Jaguars as head coach Jack Del Rio made it clear that there was no quarterback controversy and David Garrard was his starting, but now he is about to cut his starter and go with Luke McCown under center with rookie Blaine Gabbert as his backup. The busiest team in the NFL during the offseason and throughout the preseason has been the Philadelphia Eagles. Not only did Andy Reid and company add multiple Pro Bowlers to their already talented roster via free agency and through a blockbuster trade (Kevin Kolb deal), but now the Eagles have come to an agreement on a contract extension for superstar quarterback Michael Vick.
Once the NFL lockout ended, the Philadelphia Eagles number one priority was to re-sign Michael Vick and then trade backup quarterback Kevin Kolb. The end result may have been dealing Kolb first and signing Vick later, but the Eagles were able to achieve both of these goals and secure the team’s future at quarterback for at least the next six years. The number one goal for the Arizona Cardinals after the NFL lockout ended was to make the trade for quarterback Kevin Kolb from the Philadelphia Eagles. Once they traded for Kolb and signed him to a lucrative contract extension, the Cardinals main focus was directed at superstar wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald. Continue Reading…
It seems that only the start of the upcoming NFL regular season will end the speculation of yet another comeback for three-time NFL MVP quarterback Brett Favre. The most recent speculation came from the Miami Dolphins as they were on the lookout for a veteran quarterback to come in and be the starter this season, but apparently the Dolphins either decided against it or Favre had no intentions to come out of retirement to play for Miami.
