Chicago Bears @ New Orleans Saints Sun. Sept. 18, 2011 1 p.m. EST
Last week the Chicago Bears made their season debut against the Atlanta Falcons and were considered to be underdogs against one of the best teams in the league. Despite the Falcons being favored and arguably the better all-around team in many people’s eyes, Brian Urlacher and company dominated the defending NFC South division champs and cruised to victory.
In Week 2, the Chicago Bears will face a similar opponent as they will travel south to the Superdome in the Big Easy to take on Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints. Much like the Bears in their season opener, the Saints were much better than anticipated and took the defending Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers to the wire. The Saints lost the Week 1 battle with the Packers, but showed that they are still an elite team in the NFL with a chance of competing for a Super Bowl title this season.
With that being said, this matchup could be intriguing to say the least as it will be a classic showdown between a lockdown defense and a potent offense. The Saints did suffer somewhat of a major blow in Week 1 as they lost their best wide receiver in Marques Colston (broken collarbone) to injury, but they should still be a force to be reckoned with offensively as Drew Brees looks as good as ever under center.
As of right now, the New Orleans Saints are favored to get the win in Week 2 with a -7 point spread. That is a little too high in my opinion as I believe the odds makers are underestimating the Chicago Bears defense, but the Saints should still get their first win of the season.
Take the Bears at +7.
