#1 Green Bay Packers
It is pretty much a no-brainer to dub the defending Super Bowl champions the best team in the NFL before Week 1 and that has happened here with the Green Bay Packers leading the way heading into their showdown against the New Orleans Saints on Thursday night.
With the defending champs back healthy and ready to dominate the NFC Conference, the Packers are well deserving of the top spot with the best offense and defense in the NFL.
#2 New England Patriots
The addition of Chad Ochocinco and Albert Haynesworth make the New England Patriots an interesting team heading into Week 1. Even without these Pro Bowlers added to Bill Belichick’s roster, the Patriots are one of the best teams in the league with a legitimate shot of contending for a Super Bowl title.
If Randy Moss makes a return to Foxboro, this team could be second to none on offense this season.
#3 Pittsburgh Steelers
The Pittsburgh Steelers are once again amongst the league’s elite teams and this year they will be hoping to get back to the Super Bowl once again. The Baltimore Ravens should have gotten some love on this list, but until they take down their division rivals the Pittsburgh Steelers will be the top dogs.
#4 Philadelphia Eagles
As the one team that made more improvements on both sides of the football during the NFL offseason, the Philadelphia Eagles have transformed from a perennial playoff team into a legitimate Super Bowl title contender.
If Michael Vick can continue to play at a high level and the Pro Bowl additions turn out to be step in the right direction, the Eagles will definitely be heading up to the top of this list later in the season.
#5 New Orleans Saints
After disappointing title defense last season, Drew Brees and company will come into this season looking to bounce back and become one of the league’s best teams once again. Rookie running back Mark Ingram might be just what the doctor ordered for Sean Payton’s offense.
