The race for the AFC West division title is really starting to get interesting after Week 9 with three teams in the division have identical 4-4 records and the Denver Broncos starting to emerge as a legitimate force to be reckoned with. In Week 1 of this NFL regular season, the Baltimore Ravens and the Pittsburgh Steelers went head-to-head in an AFC North division showdown that was considered to be the game of the week. This season the Denver Broncos’ chances of making the playoffs are slim to none as they came into Week 9’s AFC West division showdown with the arch rival Oakland Raiders with just two wins on the year and a shaky situation at the quarterback position. With new head coach John Fox still not entirely sold on Tim Tebow as his starting quarterback and the team suffering some injury problems, the Broncos were hoping to at least contend with the Raiders on Sunday in Oakland, but they did much more than that. As arguably the most heated rivalry in the NFL, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens will come into Week 9 with hopes of taking the lead within the AFC North division. At this point in time, the Steelers have been able to crawl back up to the top of the division and have taken advantage of the Ravens recent struggles, but in Week 9 the AFC north division title could very well be on the line with winner-take-all scenario. The AFC West division has become quite interesting over the past two years as it is no longer a one-team division dominated by the San Diego Chargers.
